CINCINNATI (AP) – The Reds have released injured player Matt Kemp just over four months after winning the All-Star 2018 Los Angeles Dodgers.

Cincinnati announced the move Saturday.

Kemp hit .200 with a home run and five RBIs before Cincinnati placed him on the injured list on April 23 with a broken left side. Kemp was injured in a collision with an outside wall in San Diego.

The 34-year-old was among four players acquired from Los Angeles in a seven-player deal in December, alongside championship player Yasiel Puig, field player Kyle Farmer and southpaw Alex Wood. Kemp is in the final season of an eight-year contract worth $ 160 million.

The Reds also opted for Scott Schebler at the Louisville Triple A and recalled LHP Cody Reed to Louisville. Schebler scored .123 with two home runs and seven RBIs in 30 games. He lost his starting position to top prospect Nick Senzel, who made his debut in the championship on Friday.
