Authorities found the remains of a child Friday in a black trash bag in Hempstead County, Arkansas, about 20 km northeast of Texarkana.
Michele Arnold, information officer at the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office, said the office had officially identified the human remains as being those of Maleah on Monday morning.
She said the office was saddened by the discovery and was still working to determine the cause and manner of death of the girl.
Vence stayed at Harris County Jail on Monday with $ 45,000 bail for falsifying evidence.
