Now they can be closed – all thanks to a surprising discovery made by browsing Google Earth.

Moldt, who was 40 at the time, apparently disappeared from Palm Beach County, Florida on November 7, 1997. That night, he called his girlfriend in a bar to tell him he would be home soon, according to CNN's affiliate, WPTV. Shortly after, we saw him get out of the bar, alone and get in his vehicle. According to WPTV, it apparently would not have appeared to be intoxicated.

That night, 22 years ago, was the last time anyone saw him alive.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, a former resident of a district of Wellington, Florida, was looking on Google Earth when he noticed something in the water. In Google Earth images, you can see what appears to be a car in a retention pool flanked by homes.
The submerged car is at the top left of the pond.

The former resident, who was not identified by the police, then contacted a current resident living in close proximity to the immersed object.

"The current resident activated his personal drone and confirmed what the previous resident had seen and immediately contacted PBSO," police said.

The spotted object turned out to be a "heavily calcified" vehicle and, after removing it from the pond, the police found skeletal remains inside.

The remains were taken to the coroner's office for treatment and on Tuesday they were positively identified as Moldt.
