The return of Luke Voit to the Yankees was not a complete disappointment

Against the Blue Jays on Saturday, for the first time in 172 consecutive games, the Yankees seemed on the point of being excluded.

Aaron Hicks finished his walk before Gleyber Torres and Brett Gardner placed the Yankees in a two-hole hole at the bottom of the ninth. DJ LeMahieu avoided scoring 0-5 on that day with a powerful ball in the middle of the field and Aaron Judge led Hicks to reduce the deficit to one and maintain the sequence.

All eyes then turned to Luke Voit, who had joined the squad on Saturday morning after an eight-game absence due to a stomach sprain he'd suffered on June 29 in London.

Daniel Hudson, of the Blue Jays, caught Voit in search of speed.

"I had good bats. Obviously the last two, they made good shots, like the big pitchers. I felt good overall, "said Voit after the 2-1 defeat. "It's frustrating because I was able to help the team win the game today and it was not successful, but it's baseball and it will happen sometimes."

Voit knew that there would be a chance with LeMahieu and Judge preceding him in the order, but despite the fact that he felt confident in his performances until then, the strike was escaping him.

He said he was disappointed with the missed opportunity in his last match, but Voit felt that LeMahieu's and Judge's ability to keep the match close was something special.

"There is always a chance," he said.

The first baseman was frustrated by some of the home calls, claiming the referee Andy Fletcher was "in all the plates, but that's a strike at the end of the day". Voit was pleased with his plate play and thought his two walks were a positive takeaway.

The Yankees went 4-4 without Voit, who did not think they needed a re-education mission before returning to training. He thought his week-long baseball break would be good for him and working in Tampa reminded him of spring training.

But Voit was welcomed with an opportunity that would not change the game. It's a chance he's hoping to win, as the Yankees attempt to win the final game of the three-game series on Sunday.
