It’s been a year and a half since Starz last released new episodes of Foreigner, leaving fans of Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitríona Balfe), and their various extended / time-traveling family members, waiting for a new historical adventure. But now that delay is almost over, as the series launched the first trailer for its sixth season today at New York Comic-Con, picking up with the Frasers as the American Revolution looms large.

What seems like a pretty difficult time for everyone involved, despite the fact that Claire, a future woman, already knows how it goes. (It doesn’t help that Jamie has spent the last few seasons working as a periodic agent for the British Crown, and that the family’s estate in North Carolina Is built on land granted to them by the English authorities.)

The press release that accompanied the trailer points out that this final season of the series will focus on a question of “what happens when there is disharmony and division among the inhabitants of the house you have created: when you become a stranger, or a “stranger,” so to speak, marginalized and rejected in your own home. (Foreigner is also the name of the television program.) Who, hey, who knew that the story might be relevant to our understanding of modern times?

The trailer was shown as part of the show’s Comic-Con panel this morning., who mixed up the in-person New York appearances of Heughan, executive producer Maril Davis, and original series writer Diana Gabaldon with a European call from Balfe, Sophie skelton, Lauren Lyle, Caesar Domboy, and John Bell. Unfortunately, while we got a new video and key artwork for the show, Starz has yet to set an official release date for its sixth season; “some time at the beginning 2022 “is the best we have yet.
