- Talmerian writes in "Am I the only one to have seen the opening scene with Ray as a kind of workout? There is just a feeling or a look that indicates that she is trying something new and is testing herself. Great episode! "
- Toronto Declan written in "Hey Peter, here is a possible theory about how the emperor made his comeback. This draws both the expanded universe and canon. Remember that Dark Sidious (Emperor) was the apprentice of Dark Plagueis, a sith lord so powerful and so knowledgeable on the dark side that he could influence the Midchlorians to create life and prevent people from dying. In the expanded universe, Dark Sidious learned all the powers of Dark Plagueis and, as he had nothing to learn, he killed Plagueis as the ruler of the rule of two wanted. In Canon, you remember in Revenge of the Sith the scene where Palpatine told Anakin the story of Dark Plagueis and his power. It is no exaggeration to think that the emperor used this power to save himself at the end of the Return of the Jedi … just a thought. PS Sorry Chris, I have the feeling that it will not make you feel better with the movie. "
- Cade L writes in:
- "1) The planet in the SW: The trailer IX could be Yavin? the site of the first destruction of death stars and some Jedi temples and others (according to some legends of the EU). Maybe they are after a holocron?
- 2) Is Endor the moon or the planet? – I just looked at ROTJ again, and I'm pretty sure that Vader and the emperor are referring to the planet where the shield generator is and where the ewoks are called "Endor" … I think the moon she herself calls herself "Endor". Ewok Adventure movies are not guns (at least, I think they are not) – there are desert scenes in these movies … so the mysterious planet trailer could be Endor Also …. let's give some love to Ewok movies huh?
- 3) If Palpatine is a ghost of the force, it would cancel the moral narrative in ROTS. This film seems to indicate that the dark side can not produce immortality, but can only prolong physical life (ugly, hateful, sickly life). Whilst Qui-Gon discovers that there is immorality with the edge of light … through the ghost? I think it is an important thematic idea because it still cement the tragic irony of Anakin's turn: in the search for immortality for those he loves on the dark side, he brings them death. While abandoning life and turning to the side of light, one can achieve "immortality" within the force. Assuming that JJ cares about this distinction, I suppose Palpatine is physically alive in IX
- 4) Overall = it would have been nice to have very few returns in the original trilogy in this new trilogy. In the state, Rey, Finn and co. are not going to have their own story – their trilogy ends when their story really begins. Making the original characters play so importantly in the new story harms the new characters. Anyway, Abrams and Kennedy did not have the courage to do this trilogy without a lot of fans. JJ tends to do it anyway (look at Into Darkness). Never mind. I'm looking forward to Palpatine anyway … "
