Emily Blunt gave a typically witty response after Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson publicly denounced her for “ghosting” him.

The Rock, 49, has apparently been keen on working with Blunt since he first saw her as caustic fashionista Emily in The devil wears Prada (2006).

So when it came to convincing her to star alongside him in Jungle cruise, the Jumanji the actor knew he had to do everything possible.

Discuss with Hollywood journalist Ahead of the film’s release, Johnson opened up about his admiration for Blunt, recalling:

I had always admired her as an actress, but also when I watched her on talk shows, she had this personality that was effervescent, that was cool and very, very charming.

He then revealed that he went so far as to film a video to send to Blunt with the script in an attempt to “woo” her.

I must have turned it about five or six times because I hadn’t communicated with Emily yet. I hadn’t even met her. And I wanted to let her know through this video how important she was to this movie and how much I only wanted her in this movie.

And it was great. And I… actually, I never heard from Emily again. Did not respond at all. Just ghost me.

Blunt, who was in the same interview, responded perfectly to the accusation of teasing, mocking his co-star in return.

With his mind righteous, Blunt said:

I found the video to be cool. I never knew you would be so sensitive.

In Jungle cruise, Johnson plays Frank Wolff, a 20th century riverboat skipper hired by adventurous scientist Dr Lily Houghton (Blunt) on a jungle mission.

You can catch Jungle Cruise in UK cinemas from July 30, 2021.
