The Colorado Rockies defeated the Atlanta Braves Monday afternoon at Coors Field 3-1 with Ryan McMahon's assist.

Monday's match was a makeup match after the April 10 postponement.

To come are to take away the victory.

Another McMoment for Colorado

After the Braves tied the scoring at the beginning of the ninth inning, the situation looked bleak at 20 and Blake, especially after the Rockies pulled back after a bad trip on the 1-6 road.

However, field player Ryan McMahon helped awaken the minds of the Rockies fans by crushing a two-point home run, winning the Rockies to a 3-1 victory.

The long ball was beneficial for McMahon's second career goal. The McMahons' first game was on August 11 last season against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

McMahon has the knack for knocking at home in clutch situations. Of the 23 long balls that McMahon has had in his career, more than half have either drawn or given the Rockies a lead.

New faces hold the fort

The current alignment of the Colorado Rockies is completely different from what it was on the opening day. Due to numerous injuries, the Rockies have been forced to deplete much of their farming system this season, especially in the pitchers department.

After German Marquez was on the 10-day list with an inflamed right arm, the Rockies rotation officially became a shell for starting the season with the current five starters currently inactive.

Tim Melville was on the mound for Colorado Monday afternoon at Coors Field, his first home run as a member of the Rockies.

He was brilliant in his first start of the season last week against Arizona, placing Colorado in his only win on a seven-game road trip. The 29-year-old started seven ball heats in one heat before winning his first big league win of the year.

Melville spent time with the Cincinnati Reds, the San Diego Padres and the Minnesota Twins before landing in the Rockies affiliate, Albuquerque's Isotopes.

Triple-A proved to be a bit of a challenge for Melville, who averaged 5.42 points in just under 100 innings for isotopes.

Melville opened fire on the NL, leading east of NL East, throwing five scoreless innings. The last line of Melville was rather impressive, considering that he had allowed five hits and made three goals.

In addition, Wes Parsons, who the Rockies claimed exonerated of the Braves earlier in August, pitched two scoreless innings while eliminating three batters.

Desmond preserves a game without goal

While Ian Desmond's time in the Rockies' uniform was met with mixed criticism, he played a key role in Monday's game against the Braves.

With the goalless game in the fourth inning, Atlanta had a runner on second base with only one withdrawal after Freddie Freeman made a lap to start the game.

Matt Joyce then pushed a simple in the left field. Freeman reserved the ball for third base and spun at home to try to break the tie. However, a laser shot from Desmond to catcher Dom Nunez beat Freeman to the plate. Nunez applied the label just in time to secure the match and preserve the score.

Atlanta ended up challenging the game to see it confirmed by the referees team on the east coast.

Diaz does not close the game

The Rockies are facing a test more and more similar to that of a committee since blood clots have ruled out Scott Oberg for the season.

Colorado managed to tie a heat in the eighth inning to establish a 1-0 lead. Rather than calling former coach Wade Davis, skipper Bud Black decided to ride with Jairo Diaz for the ninth inning.

Diaz made his comeback to the leagues this season after a series of injuries and personal tragedies halted his career for two seasons. However, Daiz rebounded well in 2019, averaging 4.65 earned runs before Monday's game.

That said, Diaz never recorded any backup in his professional career, questioning the merits of the decision to insert him at this stage of the game.

Francisco Cervelli scored a triple on a goal and a goal later, after Adeiny Hechavarría made a sacrifice to tie the game.

Fortunately, Diaz was finally saved by the Rockies offensive.
