The Buffalo Sabers got another right-handed shot on the blue line, trading for defenseman Henri Jokiharju of the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for right wing Alexander Nylander.

Jokiharju, 20, was a first-round pick (29th overall) by the Blackhawks in the 2017 NHL draft. Jokiharju made his NHL debut last season in his first season as a pro. He played 38 games for Chicago, totaling 12 assists with an average ice time of 18:59 per game. Jokiharju also played 30 games with Rockford in the AHL, recording 17 points (2 goals, 15 assists) before being recalled to Chicago.

The big wave in this area is that Buffalo has separated from Nylander, their 8th overall pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. Nylander has often been criticized by supporters for his lack of development. Nylander has played only 19 games in the NHL over three years for Buffalo, scoring 3 goals and 3 assists. The 21-year-old winger was often injured, but still failed to produce even in the AHL for the Rochester Americans.
