It is May 10th. On this day of history, Mother's Day was celebrated for the first time more than a hundred years ago, the film Tornado Fred Astaire and the Gosselin sextuplets were born (at different years, of course). What did not happen: Samsung's explanation of why its Galaxy Home smart speaker missed the April delivery date and the cause of the delay.
The Galaxy Home was originally announced in August 2018 when the company also unveiled the Note 9. The speaker was supposed to outfit other smart speakers, such as Google (Nest?) Home, Amazon Echo and Apple HomePod , would work on Samsung's voice assistant, Bixby. At its last event in February, Samsung announced that the Galaxy Fold, now infamous, announced its arrival in April. This window is obviously gone, and the company did not explain why.
When contacted for comment, Samsung representatives said The edge that the company "plans to launch Galaxy Home in the first half of 2019" and has not given more details. This leaves Samsung another month to put the speaker on the market.
The demand for the Samsung speaker is unknown, but the market has proved to be a difficult space for the use of exclusive AI. Apple's HomePod, based in Siri, has not really taken off; according to last year's estimates, Apple has shipped (note the difference between sold) 600,000 HomePod during the quarter in which it was published. This figure represented only 6% of the market share. The HomePod has since received a price reduction of $ 50, which is an atypical change for Apple products that are not updated annually.
