The Seahawks have good news on keeping a key free agent

According to Tacoma News Tribune, journalist Gregg Bell, K.J. Wright is not going to free agency. Except return to the V-Mac.

In a story released earlier this morning, Bell is as definitive as reporters can appear at this time of year in the NFL calendar:

Wright, 30, was a free agent for the first time in his career. He missed 11 games last year due to a knee injury after only five losses in his first seven seasons combined.

Conditions were not immediately available. Bell reports that this is a "short-term agreement".

Since Count Thomas left for Baltimore, Wright and Doug Baldwin have been the oldest Seahawks. Both joined the franchise in 2011.

Wright was the Seattle candidate last season for the Walter Payton Man of the Year award.

The Seahawks had already signed a new contract with linebacker Mychal Kendricks, hinting that Wright would find a job elsewhere. The two men play the same position and Seattle frequently plays a 4-2-5 defense that would leave a linebacker on the bench, but there are of course many questions about Kendricks' future. Wright seems to have slapped the rumors about his departure anyway, much like this:
