WAUKEGAN, Ill. (AP) – The authorities are resuming their search for two bodies allegedly buried in the rubble of a silicone factory in northern Illinois, struck by an explosion and fire.
Waukegan Fire Marshal Steven Lenzi said Saturday's body search was scheduled to resume Sunday morning.
Nine workers were inside AB Specialty Silicones in Waukegan when the explosion occurred Friday night. Two were confirmed dead. Lenzi says the two missing employees are also presumed dead. The teams stopped searching for the bodies because of concerns about the stability of the structure.
The cause of the explosion has not been determined. The state fire marshal and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating.
Waukegan is about 80 km north of Chicago.
