The selfie feature of Snapchat 3D available exclusively on iPhone X and higher

The features of Snapchat 3D similar to those announced for the new Spectacles 3 are now available on the iPhone X or higher.

We're excited to introduce a 3D camera mode into Snapchat, adding a new layer of expression and interactivity to snapshots. Snapchatters can use the new 3D Camera mode to create snapshots that change perspective and appearance based on how you move your phone as you watch them, bringing your world and experience to life more closely reality.

Snap indicates that the feature responds to the notch technology used on the iPhone X, XS / Max, iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro / Max.

3D Camera mode captures a rich and interactive world space memory by combining image data and depth through the lens before the iPhone X to reconstruct a 3D model that looks like a diorama miniature of what the camera saw. In Preview, you can rotate and move your phone to change the perspective of the capture, as well as who you send it to (any device can view and change the perspective).

The company told us that the application generated new 3D effects, lenses and filters.

This week, Snapchatters with iPhone X and later will be able to create and share snapshots in 3D and drag on new effects, lenses and 3D filters. Together, they feel alive and magical, their perspective and appearance change depending on how you interact with the phone when you watch them.

Although you need a compatible iPhone to create 3D images of Snapchat, they can be viewed on older iPhones and on Android smartphones.

Here's how to access the feature:

• Update the Snapchat app
• Open to Snapchat camera
• Select the drop-down menu on the right
• Select "3D" and take a selfie
• From there, swipe to add 3D lenses and filters for another layer of interactivity.

Once your 3D image is created, you can even save it on your film for sharing on other platforms.

When viewing a 3D snapshot, you can simply move your phone to activate the 3D effect.
