Two days after saying goodbye to Game of thrones – with a final that ranks as the most watched episode of cabler already – Casey Bloys, president of HBO programming, is ready to look to the future. Can you tell us about the decision to make a total of 15 more episodes in the last two seasons? Was there a conversation to be done anymore? What do you think of these critics? No, I can not talk to you about this decision. The guys know what they want to do for a very long time. They have a plan in mind. I'm on record saying that I would take five more seasons. But they had a plan they wanted to do and it made sense to them. They made that decision a long time ago and they are doing it exactly as they had planned.

Was there a conversation while it might feel … a bit compressed?

They made that decision a long time ago. But no, I'm not aware of any conversation that could have been cluttered, or anything like that.

Was there a way that Game of thrones could have gone on without Benioff and Weiss in its current form?

No, I do not think any of the actors would have done it. The shows must end. It was eight seasons, it's a great epic and the shows must end. It's part of the television lifecycle.

When Benioff and Weiss presented the final of the series, what was their biggest reason for Bran six kingdoms?

I am certainly not going to paraphrase their thoughts on something so big. If they want to talk about it, they can. But I will not characterize their thinking about it.

Was there a big takeaway conversation that Benioff and Weiss hoped to convey about power in the series finale?

I will not throw more fire on the discussion by describing their thoughts behind this one. I think the last season, the show, the finale speak for themselves. It's not fair for me to characterize their thinking.

George R.R. Martin said that there were still three prequels in the mix, two at the scenario stage and the third, the driver to film this summer. Is it correct? Can you specify which two scripts are still active? (Bryan Cogman said his prequel script was dead.)

I do not clarify anything but yes, we pulled the first pilot in June. There are two more in development and beyond, there is nothing else to report.

You have the driver and two other scripts in the jobs. What projects do you have right now to put other projects in development? Or do you expect to see what happens with the other two scripts?

It is not currently planned to put more in development. We are not looking for or going beyond what we have in the current pilot project.

If successful if these two scripts come in and the pilot does it too, do you have three more Game of thrones shows?

Given the keen interest in doing more – not just volume for WarnerMedia but your crown jewel – what is the current schedule for the next Game of thrones original series?

We turn the pilot in June, you can do the math and know when it will be broadcast. No no no. No, a part is, I want this show – this Game of thrones, The show of Dan and David – to be his own thing. I do not want to take characters from this world that they have beautifully created and put them in another world with someone else creating it. I want this to be the artistic piece that they have. That's one of the reasons I do not try to do the same series. George has massive, massive world; There are so many ways to enter. That's why we try to do things that seem distinct – and do not try to redo the same show. This is probably one of the reasons why, for the moment, a sequel or a capture of the other characters does not make sense to us.

Benioff and Weiss are looking for a global offer. they have Star wars following. How important is it for you, HBO and WarnerMedia as a whole, to stay in society?

They meet everywhere, which I totally understand. It's a good time to be creative. People open doors and spend money. So, if you are a designer with a proven track record, it's a good time. I think they're doing the right thing and see what's going on. We obviously have a strong relationship with them; Warner Bros. worked with them, both individually. We will see where they meet. It's the status quo; they take but there is nothing important there.
