"It's not something that makes me happy. This is something I totally agree with. What saddens me is that if you watch this documentary – what I've done, and many of us have done here – and you're watching this episode, honestly, it seems that the episode was used by Michael Jackson for something other than what we intended to do. . It was not just a comedy for him, it was something that served as a tool. And I believe him firmly.
According to him, what was the purpose of the episode for Michael Jackson? Jean arranged it specifically:
"I think it was part of what he had used to prepare boys. I really do not know and I should be very careful because it's not something that I know personally, but as far as I'm concerned, that's what I think. And that makes me really sad.
Keep in mind that this is only speculation on Jean's part. But it's easy to see how Michael Jackson appears on The simpsons at the height of its popularity would make it less intimidating and more trustworthy, especially for young boys. Bart Simpson was an icon for kids of the '90s, so much so that they bought Butterfingers simply because he was the mascot of the chocolate bar. So this is not a big jump in the logic of understanding why Jean sees how a cartoon like The simpsons could be used to "groom the boys."
This decision of Jean does not benefit him either. The episode was written by him, which means that he has received royalties every time it is broadcast. "Stark Raving Dad" was also one of the most famous and beloved episodes of the series.
