“The Simpsons” once again made eerily accurate predictions – this time about the opening day

Many people couldn’t help but draw some similarities between the 2021 inauguration day and the past. No, they weren’t comparing him to previous presidential inaugurations, but to old scenes from “The Simpsons”.

The 2000 episode “Bart to the Future” is a play on “Back to the Future” – but it reflects our present well. In the episode, Lisa Simpson, who becomes president, wears a purple jacket and pearls. On the opening day, Vice President Kamala Harris wore the same outfit.

It wasn’t just the outfit that was similar. As Lisa sits in the Oval Office, she says her presidency has “inherited a budget tightening from President Trump.”

Over the past four years, many “The Simpsons” fans have pointed out that the show predicts Mr. Trump would one day be president. This episode also accurately predicts that a woman would become one of the most powerful rulers in the United States after her tenure.

The parallels between the animated universe and the opening day do not end there. In “The Simpsons Movie,” from 2007, Tom Hanks speaks for himself – someone who is generally considered an honest guy and a low-key, kind celebrity. “Hello. My name is Tom Hanks. The US government has lost its credibility, so it’s borrowing some of mine,” Hanks jokes in the episode.

Fans couldn’t help but point out that Hanks hosted “Celebrating America” on the opening night. As the host of the star-studded show, Hanks was more or less the mouthpiece for America – akin to his “believable” character from The Simpsons, who is the mouthpiece for a “new” Grand Canyon.

Although the show did not predict Lady Gaga’s national anthem at the inauguration, he predicted elements of his Super Bowl 2017 show in 2012. And he’s already made other predictions about entertainment, such as with the explosive result of the penultimate episode of “Game of Thrones” – two years before its release.
