Five years after its launch, the Sims 4 are undergoing a major update, to the point that they change boxes.

The new look, along with many features and updates, was announced during the Maxis Monthly Stream on Twitch, featured in the video below.

And here is the look:

According to the video, this represents the team's commitment to the game, five years later. The design of the box will change, these characters being the "face" of the Sims 4. There is also a new 'plumbob' (the little shape above their head), just to keep things fresh. The new look will begin to be rolled out Tuesday for PC and Mac users.

The rest of the video's information has been gathered under Reddit, but we'll come back to that as well. More than 1,000 items are added to the build and buy category and, perhaps most importantly, you can now create Sims based on a personality test.

It's completely optional, but you can answer ten questions when creating a Sim that will shape your personality, as well as defining your aspirations, skills, and career goals. Questions can be simple ("How old are I?") Or a little more abstract ("I found a weird plant outside, what should I do?")

The console players are still a little late, but they will have the Island Living extension the same day, with a hotfix that adds Alexa Skills, as well as the content of the freelancers update and pride.

If you're an expired Sims fan, maybe it's time to reinstall it.
