According to reports, Robert Pattinson should take over from Ben Affleck as the next player to play Batman.
According to Variety, Pattinson is negotiating to star in The Batman, a film originally designed as a project allowing Affleck to write, direct and perform the lead role. However, after the critical and commercial deception of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League, Affleck left the film, under the direction of Matt Reeves, War for the Planet of the Apes.
Pattinson's participation in The Batman has not yet been confirmed by Warner Bros. Tolkien star Nicholas Hoult was also on the list of finalists.
However, with his appearances in the Harry Potter and Twilight franchises, as well as in a series of renowned art and essay films for filmmakers such as David Cronenberg and Claire Denis, Pattinson is really the favorite.
Batman will be Caped Crusader's first solo film to be part of DC Extended Universe. His filming was set to begin in 2017. After Reeves 'replacement with Affleck, production was delayed to reflect Reeves' commitment to War for the Planet of Apes. and filming should begin later this year or early next year. The Batman's release is scheduled for June 2021.
