No matter who ends up sitting on the iron throne because Game Of Thrones is himself the biggest winner of the last season.
Not only are ratings numbers skyrocketing, but numbers in recent seasons are skyrocketing as people try to catch up or refresh their memories on what has happened.
According to Foxtel reports, fans witnessed an impressive 5.69 million hours in the first seven seasons.
The first episode of season eight has a cumulative audience of 1.418 million viewers who set a new record, beating the first episode of season seven, which drew 1,350 m.
And book sales have also jumped, with the first book A Game Of Thrones, which returns to the top spot on Dymock's fantasy novels list, though it has been out for more than 23 years.
Given that 2.7 million copies of George RR Martin's book series have already been sold, it seems that the last season has created a new wave of fans.
