SHREVEPORT, La. – With a little help, Mardi Gras revelers were given incredible time as the parade of the XXVIIIth Krewe of Centaur took place on the streets of Shreveport on Saturday night. There had been real concerns about the risk of rain on the parade, but luckily the bad weather left ArkLaTex before the festivities.
The theme of this 28th annual parade was "Centaur Rocks" and Krewe members went to great lengths to get in fashion. Of course, the crowd loved it.
Among the floats featured, there was a KISS-themed float, one called Deadheads on Parade, a Freedom Rocks float, a Grease float and another called Rock Around the Clock.
Along the usual parade route, which is 5 km long, the 34 launch tanks have unloaded more than two million pearls; 20,000 light beads; 180,000 cups; 100,000 duplicates; and 43,000 specialized throws, including soft toys, footballs, koozies, trinkets and cow bells. The parade also featured fanfares, dance groups, specialty units, orchestras and law enforcement and local fire departments.
One of the highlights was the Louisiana Tech Marching Band under the direction of Jim Robken, assisted by Dr. Greg Lyons.
The 200 Band of Pride members perform at all home football and basketball games, providing enthusiastic entertainment and support to Louisiana Tech University and its sports.
Members of the Band of Pride come from all colleges of the university and represent the best of what Louisiana Tech has to offer.
Brian Hammons
Once again, the captain of this year's parade was Brian Hammons. He has been an active member of the Krewe of Centaur for 17 years. He proudly served as King Centaur 22 and served on the Centaur Board for several years. as co-captain for 2016-2017.
Chris Brown
King Centaur XXVIII, Chris Brown, joined the krewe in 2014. He did well to attend monthly membership meetings, join the golf committee and work with other people decorating his float for the parade. Brown is a native of Shreveport and is the Field Operations Manager for TDJ Oil Field Services LLC.
Patty Rogers
Queen Centaur XXVIII, Patty Rogers, has lived in the Shreveport / Bossier area for a long time. A graduate of LSUS, Patty is Vice President and Head of Credit Analysis for Citizens National Bank of Bossier. She joined Krewe in 2013.
The Krewe of Centaur has more than 700 members and is one of three super krewes in Louisiana. It is a distinction deserved by more than 500 members.
Jordan Davis of MCA Nashville is the grand marshal of this year. Davis has been named "artist to watch" by Billboard, Rolling Stone, CMT, Pandora, Shazam, Amazon Music, Sounds Like Nashville, The Tennessean, SiriusXM, Whiskey Riff and more.
A native of Shreveport, Davis graduated from CE Byrd and LSU and briefly pursued his studies as an environmental consultant; However, his passion for music and songwriting eventually forced him to move to Nashville in the summer of 2012.
Jordan's first Platinum-certified singles, "Singles You Up", was recently ranked # 1 in the TV broadcast, making Jordan the country's best billboard artist in 2018, as well as the country's newest country artist. listened to 2018, Country Aircheck / Mediabase.

ROAD PARADE
On the parade route, more than 300 law enforcement officers from the Shreveport Police Department ensure the safety of the public and ensure that everyone has a good time.
This year's parade followed the usual route. He drove from Clyde Fant Parkway south of downtown Shreveport, turned right on Shreveport-Barksdale Road and ended up in the Broadmoor neighborhood at East Kings Highway Park.

ECONOMIC IMPACT
According to figures released by the Caddo Parish Commission, the direct economic impact of the Mardi Gras parades in Shreveport would have been more than $ 9 million. If indirect costs are added, the total economic impact is estimated at more than $ 16 million.
The Krewe of Centaur was organized in 1991. The Krewe is bound by the common goals of building a better community and looking for good family fun. The krewe is known for its community outreach, making about 35 visits to various facilities leading up to the parade.
The Krewe of Centaur Parade attracts between 250,000 and 400,000 spectators each year.
