Elijah Holyfield, running back with the University of Georgia last season, was one of four free unwritten agents signed by the franchise.

The 20-year-old had accumulated 1,000 yards for the Bulldogs last season, but his diving stock dropped if he could handle only a relatively slow 4.78 seconds for the 40-yard NFL scorecard.

Evander Holyfield-Elijah,

Most semi-finalists usually aim for less than 4.50 seconds for the combine's benchmark sprint. In total, 25 halves were chosen in the repĂȘchage, which ended this weekend.

Nevertheless, Holyfield has earned a reputation as a solid running back in Georgia and will now seek to carve out a permanent place on the list of Panthers alongside Christian McCaffrey.

Speaking before last week's draft, Holyfield told the contenders that he would be the "most diligent guy in the room" when he was chosen.

"I think I can help change the culture and add hardness to the team," he said.

"If you want a guy who can do anything at middle distance, I'm your guy."
