HBO Max movie special set to film week of April 5, sources say Hollywood journalist. He will bring back stars Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer to the soundstage of beloved comedy Warner Bros.
HBO Max declined to comment.
A premiere date for the special has yet to be set, but it will likely come nearly a year after the reunion’s scheduled debut – May 27, 2020, when HBO Max launches. The special was scheduled to celebrate the WarnerMedia-owned service becoming the exclusive streaming house for Friends and a raffle for potential subscribers.
The meeting was originally scheduled to film in March 2020, only to be delayed several times amid the novel coronavirus pandemic. Perry tweeted in November, the special would be taped in March, which turned out not to be very far from reality.
Friends Creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane are also expected to be part of the reunion, which will be filmed on Stage 24 at Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, the home of the show for its entire 1994-2004 broadcast on NBC. Kauffman, Crane, comrade Friends The EP Kevin Bright and the six stars will all executive producers on the special. Ben Winston (The Late Late Show with James Corden, the 2021 Grammys) will direct and run the production. The special is produced by Warner Horizon Unscripted Television and Winston’s Fulwell 73.
