The Pittsburgh Steelers added depth to their tight final position.

Tuesday night, Gerry Dulac of Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that the Steelers have exchanged a choice of fifth round 2020 against the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for forward Nick Vannett, a four-year veteran who caught a 13-yard pass against the Steelers in Seattle's Pittsburgh win in Week 2.

Dulac added that, according to sources, the Steelers had not traded against Vannett because of the recent shoulder injury to Vance McDonald. Pittsburgh has instead traded against Vannett – who enters the final year of his rookie contract – to strengthen the depth of the team in the tight position.

Third-round pick in the Ohio State's 2016 draft, Vannett, 6-foot-3 and 261-pound, played 42 games in the NFL regular season, scoring 16 career starts. He has 46 career receptions for 463 yards and four scores. Vannett captured four of five targets for 38 yards in his three games for Seattle this season. Will Dissly, a second-round pick in the 2018 draft, let him pass on the seahawks' depth chart. He has three touchdowns in Seattle's last two games.

The Pittsburgh close-end depth chart currently includes McDonald's and substitutes Xavier Grimble and rookie fifth-round pick, Zach Gentry. Grimble missed the pass this season, while Gentry has not yet registered reception. Jesse James, Pittsburgh's No. 2 team in the previous two seasons, signed with the Detroit Lions in the match-mission.

While he's revealed to be a productive player since arriving in Pittsburgh via an exchange with San Francisco in 2017, McDonald has missed seven games due to injuries sustained during his career with the Steelers. He was sorely missed after losing the loss to Pittsburgh in Week 3 against San Francisco. Mason Rudolph (his first career start) recorded a 174-yard win in the Steelers' 24-0 loss. Rudolph made two touchdown passes to McDonald's in Seattle's Pittsburgh loss.

Expect Vannett to be in uniform when Pittsburgh hosts the Cincinnati Bengals 0-3 next week in "Monday Night Football".
