The Suicide Squad drops under Wonder Woman as DCEU movie with highest rt score

The Suicide Squad fell 1% below Wonder Woman on Rotten Tomatoes, making Patty Jenkins’ film the top-rated DCEU film on the site.

Since its highly publicized release in 2017, Wonder woman retained the highest rating of any DCEU movie on Rotten Tomatoes. Directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gal Gadot and Chris Pine, the film explores the DC hero’s origin story as Diana, warrior princess of the Amazons. Jenkins’ portrayal has been praised for its feminist message, sublime fight sequences, and sense of humor.

Warner Bros. tapped on the guardians of the galaxy director to direct a sequel to David Ayer’s film Suicide Squad in 2018 after Ayer and other directors passed on the project. Gunn’s standalone sequel puts Ayer’s cast members in an unrelated new story with new characters, and the result has been well received by audiences and critics alike. Gunn’s film hit US theaters on Friday August 6, following a successful UK release a week earlier. On July 31, Gunn celebrated The suicide squad reception abroad on Twitter as the first film to be certified fresh ahead of its US premiere. More than a few of the acclaimed director’s films have already earned this accolade, but his latest is the only one to be so widely endorsed that the review aggregator has confirmed its success even before American audiences saw it.

As more and more reviews come in after the film’s US release, The suicide squad now has an overall critical rating of 92% on Rotten tomatoes, sliding it underneath Wonder woman in the ranking of one percent. Wonder woman Currently has a critical score of 93% on the Tomatometer, the highest of any DCEU movie on Rotten Tomatoes. While Wonder woman seems to be the favorite of moviegoers, The suicide squad currently has an 86% higher audience score compared to Wonder woman 83%. Shazam! occupies third place in RT’s DCEU ranking with a score of 90% on the Tomatometer, followed by Birds of prey at 79%. Zack Snyder Justice League and Aquaman are the only other DC films that have been certified fresh.

Of course, these percentages are strongly subject to the increase in the number of viewers over time. The average score for any given film is expected to decrease as more critics and viewers see the film, and other negative reactions lower its rating. On the flip side, it’s possible that Gunn’s film could take a lead in the race with the two ratings so close to each other and the premiere still fresh on viewers’ minds. The suicide squad experienced lower box office participation than Birds of prey, which itself drew a smaller number than expected. The suicide squad box office success is hardly an indication of his critical approval or even public appreciation, like David Ayer’s Suicide Squad was a financial victory that failed to click with viewers.

Gunn, who wrote and directed the film, was praised for telling the story that Suicide Squad should have said. The film brings back Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis and Jai Courtney, joined by Idris Elba, John Cena and Sylvester Stallone, to fight a giant starfish in a Nazi-era island prison. The story, inspired by that of John Ostrander Suicide Squad comics and is inspired by the genre of war films, has gained critical approval. Viewers also praised the film’s humor, cast, and well-developed characters, especially Idris Elba’s anti-hero Bloodsport. The suicide squad despite the current hype, fans are still talking about Wonder woman years after the film’s theatrical release.
