The tiny GameCube from YouTuber is a heartbreaking look at what could have been

Unlike the low effort PlayStation Classic, the NES Classic and the SNES Classic are some of the best attempts to revive the adorable old consoles. But for some reason, despite selling millions of its retro consoles, Nintendo has not continued its range of console reboots and does not seem interested in going any further, leaving system fans like the N64 and Gamecube to theirs. own devices.

That's what YouTuber Madmorda did and created a very small home version of the Gamecube Classic, going as far as four controller ports and the built-in handle. According to the appearance of the video, Madmorda's mini Gamecube is about 1 / 10th the size of the original console. It is therefore natural that adjustments are needed to miniaturize the beautiful cubic console Nintendo.

Instead of the traditional Gamecube controller ports on the front, Madmorda used 3.5mm jacks for their small size and then created special dongles allowing you to connect traditional Gamecube controllers as you would normally. At the same time, to save even more space, MadMorda also swapped GCN's original memory card slots for USB ports. The first port can be used to back up and store entire game ROMs, while the second port supports the Gamecube USB Wii U controller adapter, allowing a second player to participate more easily in the party.

Madmorda has even included a functional fan, a power button and a LED light, as on the original console. However, since there is no disc that can fit into such a small drive, the Madmorda mini-Gamecube is naturally not equipped with a working disk drive.

Finally, on the back, the tiny Gamecube is equipped with a micro-USB port for power and an additional 3.5mm for video output. You can thus connect the system to a modern screen (with the appropriate adapter).

Madmorda's tiny Gamecube follows YouTuber's successful attempt to create a miniature Gamecube controller made from a keychain, in addition to a range of other custom consoles and controllers.

The sad part of all this is that after seeing this thing, we must now ask ourselves if Nintendo will ever achieve a true Gamecube classic for all of us without the skills and the time to make one. After releasing the classic NES in the fall of 2016 and following the SNES Classic in late 2017, Nintendo has never released a third classic console adaptation for the 2018 holiday season.

If I had what I needed, I'd like to see a Gameboy Classic, an N64 Classic, and then a Gamecube Classic in that order. And who knows, there may still be a chance. Nintendo, do it. But it's just me. There is probably someone who is still thirsty for a Virtual Boy Classic.
