Kurt Angle's farewell match will take place at WrestleMania. It may be that they did not wait for the Fastlane show to mention it, but I suppose 28 days is enough to host the last Olympic Hero match at WWE. We'll talk more about Kurt Angle in the weeks to come, but I think this week requires a discussion about who will be standing at WrestleMania.
Who should be Kurt Angle's last opponent in a WWE ring? Here are the seven WWE Superstars that came to mind …
7. Baron Corbin
I mean … it's hard to defend Corbin for anything as long as WrestleMania matches take place. But Angle has nominated, Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre as options. McIntyre will probably be busy with Roman Reigns. Lashley had already played in the last match of the Impact Wrestling of Angle and I doubt they would want to repeat it. Corbin & Angle have backgrounds and Corbin is not as terrible in the ring as he deserves credit. He is an extremely boring personality when he is not on Talking Smack.
Angle was working a little defense and coming back to beat him in less than 10 minutes would not be the worst thing in the world.
6. Shelton Benjamin
We are talking about half of the Angle team here. Shelton made his WWE debut alongside Charlie Haas as Angolan defensemen at the end of 2002. Other than a few matches in 2005 and some Royal Rumbles & Battle Royals, Shelton & Kurt have not met too often since that they were students and mentors. .

Shelton has recently emerged from obscurity at the request of Brock Lesnar's lawyer, Paul Heyman. He has been under contract with WWE for some time and occasionally appears for a good game here and there, but he did not give anything away. A match with his mentor at WrestleMania would provide good puffs for Mr. Benjamin.
5. Sami Zayn
Unlike the other gentlemen mentioned here this week, Sami Zayn and Kurt Angle have no history. I should not say zero, because they came across while Angle was the general manager of Raw & Sami competing in the series, but there was nothing substantial. Other than Kurt suggesting that Sami and Kevin Owens check if TNA is hiring. This is not a reminder of what he did in Angle's past, or the rest of his career.
It would be just a great match. You know Sami would do everything to make Kurt look like a million dollars.
4. AJ Styles
You may remember that at one point in Kurt Angle's career he had been to TNA and people were writing on this website even though they feared that guy would die. It's not happened. What happened is that Angle had more classic matches with more opponents, one of them being phenomenal.
AJ already seems to have Randy Orton in the lead, so the chances of that happening at WrestleMania are slim and nonexistent. But it's amazing to me that Styles and Angle did not play in the WWE ring at one point when they had both men under contract. Can we at least get this booking on Raw or SmackDown next month?
3. Samoa Joe
Speaking of people whose Angle was dealing with the TNA, Joe was his first opponent under the auspices of this company.
Joe & Angle has had several battles during this period, including a clash at Lockdown 2008 which is widely regarded as the culmination of the best rise of a major event in the history of TNA / Impact Wrestling. Angle & Joe has managed to avoid meeting at WWE in the last year. Would not it be logical for the Olympic hero to face the US champion in his last match?
2. John Cena
John Cena's first WWE opponent was Kurt Angle.
Cena accepted Angle's open challenge to "anyone he had never faced before" and proclaimed himself full of ruthless aggression. Nearly seventeen and almost seventeen world championships later, John Cena is one of the greatest WWE superstars of all time. It was launched from a game at SmackDown with Kurt Angle.
It would be appropriate for Angle to be Cena's first opponent for WWE and for Cena to be the last opponent of Angle for WWE.
1. Chad Pignon
This is probably the least likely of the options I listed here. But it makes a lot of sense if you think about it. Gable competed in the 2012 Olympics and followed in Angle's footsteps in professional wrestling. He found his place in NXT within American Alpha alongside Jason Jordan, and they ended up together. They stomped on the water at SmackDown until the team was split and Chad was left to the wolves.
You see, Kurt moved to Raw after discovering that Jason was his illegitimate son. Jordan was pushed until he was put on the shelf with a neck injury. Father like son, no? Gable had to scratch and scratch to finally find himself in a team with Bobby Roode. Gable's career was sacrificed on the altar of Kurt Angle's feelings for his illegitimate child.
The least that Kurt Angle can do for Chad Gable is the honor of playing his farewell match.
