The Toyota Camry TRD 2020 costs $ 31,995, the least expensive Camry V6

Although Toyota unveiled the TRD Camry in November 2018, it's only now that we're discovering how expensive it is, thanks to the order guides discovered by Cars Direct. The sportier variant of the mid-size sedan will cost you $ 31,995 once you have taken into account the mandatory $ 955 destination fee. This is a very good deal if you consider it to be the most accessible version of the Camry.

Indeed, the V6 XLE starts at $ 35,255 for the 2019 model year according to the Toyota USA configurator, including destination and handling charges. As for the flagship product XSE V6 2019, it will cost you $ 35,805. That means you'll save a few thousand dollars compared to those two, but Toyota pointed out in an email to Cars Direct that it would be more accurate to compare the new TRD with the mid-level and four-cylinder SE only, instead of the higher-end versions with the larger engine. For comparison, the 201 SE Camry SE costs $ 26,795, making the TRD variant more expensive for $ 5,200.

In other words, the TRD Camry equipment list has more in common with that of the SE category, but with the added benefit of TRD-specific goodies. These include a sportier body kit for improved aerodynamics, 19-inch matte black wheels for added styling, and improved suspension that lowers the car and optimizes handling. In addition, the brakes at the front are beefier, as well as suspension bars and stiffer springs, while the shiny black grille is unique to the TRD Camry.

Inside, the cabin has touches of red and synthetic leather rather than the perforated leather of the XSE, more expensive. There are also many Toyota Racing Development badges, visible on the shift knob, floor and boot mats, and a TRD logo on the screen.

The power remains the same. The 3.5-liter V6 engine continues to produce 301 horsepower at 6,600 rpm and 267 lb-ft (362 Newton-meters) of torque from 4,700 rpm, driven to the road by an automatic transmission at eight reports.

Available in limited numbers for the 2020 model year, the Toyota Camry TRD (as well as the Avalon TRD) will go on sale this fall.
