J.J. Abrams and his surprise guest, "Late Show" host Stephen Colbert, unveiled the title and trailer of the upcoming movie "Star Wars" on Friday in a galaxy far, far away. (Not really.) The director delivered the goods about three kilometers from the Tribune Newsroom at the massive five-day Star Wars Celebration convention that took place this weekend at McCormick Place. )
Around 6 am, fans lined up in front of the Wintrust Arena for the 11 o'clock unveiling. Around 9:00 am, the waiting line wrapped around the building on Indiana Avenue, and rumors about the title and names of those present would be heard during the din.
Distribution members Daisy Riley, John Boyega, Kelly Marie Tran and Oscar Isaac showed up to avoid many of Colbert's inquiries. And the missing piece of the title has been revealed as "The Rise of Skywalker".
The film is the latest film in Skywalker's next trilogy, which debuted with "Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens" in 2015. It's scheduled for December 20th.
