The State Department said it had “facilitated the safe departure” of four US citizens from Afghanistan on Monday, noting that the Taliban “knew” and did not interfere with the evacuation.
A senior State Department official said the evacuation was carried out “by land from Afghanistan.”
“Embassy staff were present when they arrived,” the official said. “They were in good condition.
The official said “the Taliban knew about it and did not hinder their transit.”

The State Department announcement came after Representative Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., Said that an American family he was working with to get out of Afghanistan was successfully evacuated on Monday morning. The family consisted of a mother and her three children, all US citizens.
It is not clear whether the State Department was referring to the same people or four other US citizens.

The Biden administration said over the weekend that “about 100” Americans remained in Afghanistan, after all US troops withdrew and the evacuation of more than 124,000, including 6,000 US citizens.
White House chief of staff Ron Klain told CNN the administration was “in contact with everyone we have identified on a regular basis.”
Klain added that the administration “hopes that in the coming days the Qataris can resume air service from Kabul.”
“And if they do, we’re obviously going to look to see if the Americans can be a part of these thefts,” Klain said. “We will find ways to get them out – those who want to leave – to get them out of Afghanistan.
Administration officials said many of those who remain in Afghanistan have family members in the area and “want to stay.”
“But those who want to leave, we will take them out, as the president said,” Klain said, saying the August 31 withdrawal was simply a transition “from a military mission to a diplomatic mission to bring out of the country the remaining Americans and the Afghan or Afghan allies, the so-called SIV. ”
He added: “And we are continuing to work on this.”
Meanwhile, the State Department said on Monday that the United States was working “quickly and accurately” to ensure that American citizens and “Afghan civilians at risk” could reach their final destinations “safely and efficiently.” .

The State Department added that “dedicated intelligence, law enforcement and counterterrorism professionals from the Department of Homeland Security, Department of Defense, Federal Bureau of Investigation, National Counterterrorism Center, and other partners in the intelligence community, are working tirelessly to expedite the processing and verification of Afghans before they are allowed to enter the United States. This includes reviewing biographical and biometric data. ”
The State Department noted that nearly 40,000 people have left overseas treatment sites and have arrived in the United States.
