Google is trying to create a complete ecosystem that will allow users to access all the important information from almost any Google application. Gmail has been integrated with many other Google applications, but other developers have noticed the benefits and added the integration to the email application.
The latest app benefiting from Gmail's integration is Google Pay, which is not surprising since the changes were noticed a few months ago. At present, 9to5google reports that Google Pay has been updated with the Gmail import, which means that the mobile payment app will scan your emails and add relevant information to its system.
For example, when you receive loyalty cards, movie tickets, and boarding cards in the Gmail inbox, they are automatically added to Google Pay. Keep in mind however that if you delete the email containing the information, it also disappears from Google Pay.
This enhancement facilitates access to loyalty cards, tickets, etc. without having to check your emails each time you want to know more. It is also easier to search and use coupons and boarding passes sent in your Gmail inbox.
It should be noted that the new Gmail import feature is disabled by default. You must activate it in Google Pay by selecting: Settings / General / Gmail Imports and using the flip-flop available after the last update.
