The updated Intuos Pro Small from Wacom is a portable drawing tablet for the pros.

Wacom has announced the update of the Intuos Pro Small, a compact wireless design tablet designed for portability. The Intuos Pro Small is the latest in the Intuos Pro range to be updated. Medium and Large were revived a few years ago with thinner goggles and updated stylus, the Pro Pen 2, which has 8,192 levels of pressure sensitivity.

At $ 249, the Intuos Pro Small is more affordable than the average $ 379 and large tablets at $ 499. The design is almost identical, too. The only difference with the Intuos Pro Small lies in the fact that it has two ExpressKeys in less than the average and large sizes. It also does not offer the possibility of exchanging texture sheets, which allows artists to personalize the surface feel of the tablet, depending on whether they like a smoother or rougher texture. The texture of the surface provided is pleasant to the touch, with a minimum of resistance to give the canvas a natural appearance for use with the stylus.

The tablet is smaller than the previous model, but it offers a larger active area, of a size of 10.6 x 6.7 inches, with an active area of ​​6.3 x 3.9 inches. It connects wirelessly via Bluetooth to Macs and PCs, but you can connect via USB-C when you need to charge the tablet. It comes with the Pro Pen 2 pen (which does not need charging, like all Wacom pens), and is compatible with the Pro Pen 3D Pen and Pro Pen Slim, marketed earlier this year.

The Intuos Pro Small also features touch controls. You can pinch to zoom or use two fingers to rotate the canvas. Its responsiveness is about the same as that of touch controls on an iPad, and touch settings can be turned on and off using a physical switch on the side of the tablet. You can customize the ExpressKeys keyboard shortcuts on the side of the tablet and use the touch ring to perform operations such as zooming and adjusting the brush size.

Compared to Wacom's Intuos Introductory Tablets for beginners, which costs $ 99 for the Small Tablet with Bluetooth, the Intuos Pro Small is for professional artists and freelancers who want to use their tools at any time. It offers artists all the features of the largest Intuos Pro tablets, but now it comes in portable form, the size of a laptop.
