Last year, a Korean research company called CGS-CIMB Group said that Apple would be the last of the major handset manufacturers to introduce a foldable handset. This would take place in the second half of 2020, perhaps during its traditional announcement in September. We have already seen a number of patents filed by Apple, but we still do not know if the company will accept an innie or a outie. In other words, will the foldable iPhone fold inward like the Samsung Galaxy Fold or outward like the Huawei Mate X?
On the back is the triple camera configuration that has been prevalent for the iPhone XI and the iPhone XI Max. Borrowing from the 2019 model renderings, the rear cameras are housed in a circle-shaped case in the upper left corner of the back panel of the phone (when it's closed). The three cameras at the back include a 12MP wide angle sensor with variable aperture of f / 1.5-2.4, a 12MP telephoto sensor and a 16MP sensor with 3x optical zoom. There is also a 10MP camera on the cover screen with an aperture of f / 2.2.
According to rumor, Samsung would provide Apple with flexible OLED panels for its foldable phone
Because it's a concept and engineers do not need to know how to lay out the internal components of the device to make it work, De Rosa has the luxury of making her iPhone X Fold a finer and more elegant device than the Galaxy Fold. He is also able to create his own version of iOS for the concept. A particularly convincing picture shows the phone in a laptop-like mode with the lower half of the 8.3-inch screen used for the Qwerty virtual keyboard and the upper half used as a screen.
A number of Android manufacturers are expected to release foldable phones this year, including the aforementioned Samsung and Huawei. Other manufacturers include Oppo, TCL and Lenovo's Motorola subsidiary. Until now, it seems that the form factor will be out of reach for many consumers; the Galaxy Fold is priced at $ 1,980 while the Mate X costs the equivalent of $ 2,600. The Motorola RAZR could cost $ 1,500, although the supposed specifications of the device are not as sophisticated as those of the Samsung and Huawei models. Until prices start to fall, the foldable form factor will remain a curiosity.
Apple is also expected to unveil its first 5G phone next year. So it's possible that the first collapsible iPhone supports the next generation of wireless connectivity. Samsung is expected to provide Apple with flexible OLED panels for the device and has already sent samples to Apple for review by the company.
