"The Walking Dead" and movie star Scott Wilson left out Oscars in Memoriam

Well before joining the zombie drama in his second season in 2011, Wilson made memorable appearances in The ninth configuration, In cold bloodand 1974 Gatsby the magnificent.

The star made her film debut with Sidney Poitier in 1967. In the heat of the Night, the film directed by Norman Jewison who won five Oscars, including the best film.

Wilson died at the age of 76 in October after a battle with leukemia. He died just a day before The dead who walk presented for the first time its ninth season, during which Wilson briefly resumed his role as Hershel in the starting episode for Rick Grimes star Andrew Lincoln.

"We will always remember Scott as a great actor and we all feel lucky to have known him as an even better person. The character he embodied in The Walking Dead, Hershel, was at the heart of the emotion, "said a CMA spokesman in a statement released after Wilson's death.

"Like Scott in our lives, Hershel was a character whose actions continue to inform the choices of our characters to this day. Our thoughts are with his wife, family, friends and the millions of fans who loved him. Scott will be missed.

Wilson was remembered in January at the 25th Annual In Memoriam Screen Actors Guild Awards. This montage has sampled a clip of The dead who walk 403, "Isolation", in which Hershel declares his intention to help the seriously ill despite the considerable risk associated with it.

Greg Nicotero, who directed what would prove to be Wilson's latest appearance in "What Comes After" (November), previously confirmed that Wilson had watched his final scene before his death and "he was very grateful".

"He had tears in his eyes when he looked at her and he was so proud," Nicotero said in October.

"Hershel … he did so much for the series and it was a great opportunity to pay tribute to the fans and give them an episode of The dead who walk unlike everything they've ever seen.

"Scott was such a dear friend. I can not tell you how happy I am to have him come back for the show and how personally I am happy to be able to show him this scene and to be able to enjoy the magic that he could create. "

Oscars viewers were also unhappy after the ceremony that snubbed Verne Troyer and R. Lee Ermey, among others, who had not been included in a montage paying tribute to industry personalities such as Penny Marshall, Burt Reynolds, Margot Kidder and Stan Lee.
