As the first of The walking deadThe last three arcs of the season came to an end on Sunday – the last of eight episodes airs October 10 – Negan gave Maggie an unlikely Alpha makeover, Eugene stepped into a doodoo so deep he could’ve lost a boot, Leah revealed to Daryl that at least some a trace of humanity still sparkled in her, and Elijah… Oh. Poor, sweet Elie. He was “reunited” with his sister in the worst possible way. Read on and we’ll go through all the details.
‘CONGRATULATIONS AND YOU ARE WELCOME’ | At the start of “Broken Promises,” Pope was so excited that the Reapers Patrol had found no trace of Maggie & Co. that Leah was brought in when he tried to yell at her men’s faces. Later, when she and Daryl were sent to repeat the search, they encountered a terrified man who was just trying to find food for his son and his critically injured wife. Kill them, Pope ordered Leah to use her walkie-talkie. But when the thrust came to shoot, it couldn’t – it remained at least partly human. So instead of blowing up the family, she told the father to take the boy and run away, then tried to get the mother out of her misery. Again, however, she couldn’t – she was still very human, thank you. Finally, after Daryl did it for her, she said she would tell Pope that he deleted all three of them. Knowing Pope, that would probably earn Daryl a Medal of Honor or something.
Meanwhile, Negan agreed to continue Maggie’s suicide mission only if she promised him that if he did, he could stop looking over her shoulder. “Would you take a promise from me?” She replied, incredulous. “Truly?” Since he would, she reluctantly shook it. Soon after, meeting the walkerfied version of Elijah’s sister’s best friend gave Maggie an idea: they could attack Meridian the Whisperers way. Rounding up walkers was easy enough, but she soon learned from Coach Negan that playing one was harder than wearing a cranky mask, stumbling, and growling. “It’s not fun,” she fumed. “Well, not with this attitude, ”he replied. Gradually, the deadly enemies nearly bonded after she learned to round up the walkers. But then the former leader of the Saviors went and admitted that if he had anything to do, he wouldn’t have just killed Glenn and Abraham and everyone he had, “I would have killed every one of them. you.” Saying that, in her mind, was kind of an exercise in confidence… which would only make it harder for her to keep her promise. Either way, as the hour drew to a close, they, Elijah, and Gabriel were masked as Whisperers and leading walkers towards Meridian. On the way… ah, what are the odds? Elijah just saw his hapless sister among the living dead. Now him and Maggie additional wanted wanted to kill all the Reapers.

When it didn’t seem sufficient to say that he was happy to be a baker, he begged his sister to shut him up. “No one can know I was a doctor,” he said threateningly – and just so quickly he was taken away by the stormtroopers. Immediately, Yumiko confronted Lance, who assured her that Tomi would be home that evening. Lance could be a great asset to her, he added, provided that she, in turn, could be considered “a friend in high places”. After the princess, steadfast in her “anti-friends who die of stubbornness,” insisted that a troubled Ezekiel see a doctor, the king returned with spring in his step. While reassigned, Eugene and Stephanie saved Snotty McSnotterson and his girlfriend from being attacked by walkers. In response, Snotty shouted that the “plebeians” had disrupted his date. He even went so far as to call Stephanie a stupid bitch when another rescue left his makeup partner spattered with blood. It did so with regard to Eugene; he dragged around and banged the d-bag, only to find that oops… he was, of course, Pamela’s obnoxious son, Sebastian. If Eugene hadn’t hit him, “you would have been a hero,” Lance sighed. “You could have asked anything.” Now his only chance to be released from his prison cell – and he would have no choice but to grab it – revealed Alexandria’s location.
