The NBA season was relatively quiet for Nick "Swaggy P" Young. After the Nuggets cut it just 20 days after signing it in December, the attacker loving the cameras remained relatively unobtrusive. It was until Friday night when the Warriors decided to take some time before their match against the Cavs to give ol 'Swaggy his championship ring.
The Warriors aired a short video tribute to Young – the last player in the 2018 championship roster to win his ring – and Draymond Green escorted him to mid-term. Swaggy impregnated every second with applause from the crowd, then walked quietly to the Warriors' bench where he steeped in each handshake and hugged his former teammates.
But referee Ken Mauer felt that there was too much dipping to his liking and gave the Warriors a warning time before the match. Green said after the match that it was "very appropriate".
"In fact, he did all his excitement and all that," added Green. "But it was great. I'm really close to Nick. Playing with him this year was amazing. I wish he's back. "
Steph Curry used the subject of the warning to show some flexibility, saying that officials must now understand that the ringing ceremonies in Oracle tend to take longer than expected.
In the last two years we've probably had five or six of those celebrations, and that's usually overflowing. I would have liked him to give it to Nick Young because he was taking his time, of course, as he should have done. But probably more than an entertainment for everyone, [the ref was] try to get the game started. But we took a lot of time, that's for sure.
Young even had time to talk to reporters at the post-game press conference during which he broadcast a TV show he will attend and gave a compelling argument for placing it in Space Jam 2.
I'm also in favor of seeing Swaggy P in Space Jam 2. Imagine one of the Monstars who loses his talent by losing the game against LeBron's team because Nick Young's stranger can not help but play with three.
