Following the announcement of the 53 annual Grammy nominations on Tuesday, the singer took to Twitter to express his feelings on the matter.

CNN has solicited comment from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, the organization behind the Grammys.

So there was some confusion when The Weeknd was left out completely.

In January, the organization announced a series of initiatives developed in partnership with its Diversity Working Group to improve inclusion within its ranks and among Grammy-nominated artists.
