Personnel and organizational changes at Apple have been so dramatic lately that the company has had to suspend several projects, a report released on Monday said.
Queues have been set up to allow managers to "re-evaluate priorities", the Wall Street newspaper says, citing several sources. People have not identified specific projects or even what areas they are related to.
Be that as it may, the changes have upset the workers accustomed to Apple's stability, since management has hardly changed for a period of about five years. Newspaper continued. Recent changes include the replacement of Angela Ahrendts, Head of Retail, the appointment of John Giannandrea as Senior Vice President of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, and the dismissal of Bill Stasior, leader of Siri.
The company has also recently eliminated more than 200 people from its autonomous driving team.
More and more Apple's resources are turning to services, Newspaper it's noted. Eddy Cue, senior vice president of software and Internet services, reportedly focused the bulk of his engineering team on the company's upcoming video platform, which is expected to be unveiled on March 25. This offer should combine original films and television shows with third party subscriptions.
Apple is known for experimenting with many ideas that never see the light of day. One of his most concrete projects, however, would be augmented reality headphones. In fact, the company recently named its first Senior Global Product Marketing Director for Augmented Reality, Frank Casanova.
