They are back

The Who today announced the details of their first new album for 13 years and shared the album's first single – "Ball and Chain". You can listen to the new song below.

The new album 'Who' will be released on November 22 and is available for pre-order now. Containing 11 tracks, the album was recorded in London and Los Angeles in the spring and summer of 2019 and would cover topics such as "The Grenfell Tower Fire, Musical Theft, the spirituality, reincarnation, the power of memory and an old rock star lost his marbles. "

Co-produced by Pete Townshend & D. Sardy (Noel Gallagher, Oasis, LCD Soundsystem and Gorillaz) and with vocal production by Dave Eringa (Manic Street Preachers, Roger Daltrey, Wilko Johnson), the album joins Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend. long time drummer Zak Starkey.

The work of art of the new album, created by the famous artist Sir Peter Blake, was unveiled last night (September 12) at the Pace Gallery in New York. You can listen to the first single of the new album here:

About the new album, Daltrey said, "I think we made our best album since Quadrophenia in 1973, Pete has not lost his track, he's still a fabulous songwriter and he's always that sharp."

Townshend added, "This album contains almost all the new songs written last year, with two exceptions. There is no theme, no concept, no story, just a set of songs that I (and my brother Simon) have written to give Roger Daltrey an inspiration, challenges and a reach for his singing voice recently revived.

"Roger and I are now older men, no matter what. So I tried to stay away from romance, but also from nostalgia if I could. I did not want to put anyone bad at ease. The memories are good, and some songs refer to the explosive state of things today.

"I have made new home studio demos of all these songs in the summer of 2018 using an extensive collection of old and new instruments. We started recording as The Who in March 2019 and we finished at the end of August, just in time to make vinyl … maybe even cassettes … ready to air in November. " .
