The Who will release a new album simply titled who The band also unveiled the single "Ball & Chain", but also announced a tour in the UK early 2020 and celebrated the new with an acoustic set at a private party in New York.
who, the long-awaited follow-up of 2006 Endless thread was recorded at sessions in London and Los Angeles earlier this year. Townshend co-produced 11 songs with D. Sardy and hired Dave Eringa to handle voice production. Peter and Roger are backed by the drummer's long-running rhythm section Zak Starkey and bassist Pino Palladino and the LP also includes contributions from Simon Townshend, Benmont Tench, Carla Azar and Joey Waronker and Gordon Giltrap.
"I think we made our best album since Quadrophénie In 1973, Pete did not lose him, he's still a fabulous songwriter, and he still has that sharp edge, "said Roger Daltrey in a statement on the new record. Read what Townshend said below:
This album contains almost all the new songs written last year, with two exceptions. There is no theme, no concept, no story, just a set of songs that I (and my brother Simon) have written to give Roger Daltrey an inspiration, challenges and a reach for his singing voice recently revived. Roger and I are now older men, no matter the measure, so I tried to stay away from romance, but also from nostalgia if I could. I did not want to put anyone bad at ease. The memories are good, and some songs refer to the explosive state of things today. I have made new home studio demos of all these songs in the summer of 2018 using an extensive collection of old and new instruments. We started recording as Who in March 2019 and we finished at the end of August, just in time to make vinyl. . . maybe even cassettes. . ready for release in November.

The illustrations in this album were created by Sir Peter Blake and were unveiled at the opening of the Pace Contemporary Art Gallery on Thursday. Peter and Roger played a set with Simon Townshend, including classic classics from "The Kids Are Alright", "Pinball Wizard", "Behind Blue Eyes" and "Do not Be Fooled Again".
