The Who will release a new album, WHONovember 22 via Polydor Records, their first in 13 years. The rock band has planned its release with the single "Ball and Chain", which he has already played in concert.

The album of eleven tracks was mainly recorded in London and Los Angeles in the spring and summer of 2019. It was co-produced by Pete Townshend and D. Sardy, with vocal production by Dave Eringa. Simon Townshend, Benmont Tench, Carla Azar, Joey Waronker and Gordon Giltrap also contributed to the songs.

"I think we made our best album since Quadrophénie in 1973, "singer Roger Daltrey said in a statement. "Pete did not lose it. He is still a fabulous songwriter and he always has that sharp. "

Townshend added, "This album contains almost all the new songs written last year, with two exceptions. There is no theme, no concept, no story, just a set of songs that I (and my brother Simon) have written to give Roger Daltrey an inspiration, challenges and a reach for his singing voice recently revived. Roger and I are now older men, no matter the measure, so I tried to stay away from romance, but also from nostalgia if I could. I did not want to put anyone bad at ease. The memories are good, and some songs refer to the explosive state of things today. I have made new home studio demos of all these songs in the summer of 2018 using an extensive collection of old and new instruments. "

The songs cover a variety of topics, including the Grenfell Tower fire, music theft, spirituality, reincarnation, the power of memory and the life of an aging rock star. The work of this new album was created by the artist Sir Peter Blake, a longtime friend of the band, and was unveiled last night at the Pace Gallery in New York. The album is currently available for pre-order via The Who's online store.

Who are visiting the United States this fall, with several stops at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. They will embark on a tour of the UK for the benefit of the new album next year. The last album of the band, Endless thread, was released in 2006.
