The winners and losers of Zinedine Zidane's return to Real Madrid

Zinedine Zidane is back at Real Madrid – but that's not good news for all Los Blancos players.

The Frenchman made a sensational return to Bernabeu on Monday after Real decided to sack Santiago Solari.

He has signed a three-year contract in the Spanish capital while he wants to add to an impressive series of trophies from his first term.

Zidane led Real to three successive titles in the Champions League and four in five seasons, before leaving at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.

But a disastrous week that saw their silverware hopes shattered this season broke and led to his return.

Here is who is ready to benefit – and who could stay a few difficult weeks.

Winner – Isco

Isco was a key player under Zidane, having played at least 30 appearances in La Liga in each of his five seasons in charge.

But it broke down this mandate, especially since Santiago Solari replaced Julen Lopetegui.

He has only made five starts in the league, the last of which was scored in Clasico's 5-1 defeat in Barcelona last October.

The Spaniard hopes to have more time on the ground under Zidane.

Loser – Gareth Bale

Bale endured highs and lows during Zidane 's first term, but proved the man more than once, notably thanks to his superb goal against Liverpool in the Champions League final. 39, last year.

But the Welshman has struggled to fulfill the duties of Cristiano Ronaldo since leaving for Juventus last summer.

Bale has also had injury problems in recent years and has several months to try to regain Zidane's confidence.

However, with rumors of a summer return to the Premier League, Zidane's return could well seal his Bernabeu exit.

Winner – Marcelo

Another player who fell out of favor under Solari is Marcelo.

The Brazilian has only participated 14 times in La Liga this season, his last start in the loss to Girona last month.

But he has had tremendous success under Zidane, and his match is on the left-back. We can therefore expect to see his minutes increase now that the Frenchman is back in Bernabeu's canoe.

Loser – Dani Ceballos

Ceballos fought for playing time under Zidane, making only four La Liga starts after his stint at Real Betis in Bernabeu in the summer of 2017.

He has had more success this season, playing 20 times in the top tier and starting 11, including the last match at the head of Solari, a 4-1 win over Real Valladolid.

But Zidane 's return could see him fall again in the hierarchy.
