Yankees SS Troy Tulowitzki According to many reports, he had to leave Wednesday's game against the Tigers after suffering a Grade 1, Grade 1 calf strain.
Tulowitzki came out on top in the fourth inning, as Gleyber Torres moved to the short stop with Tyler Wade entering at the second base. The veteran field player had a bat fight where he came out and made an unbalanced throw to end the third inning. It is unclear to which game exactly the injury occurred.
This is another blow for the Yankees, who just do not get to stay in shape early in the season. They have already led the majors with 10 players on the injured list, including Giancarlo Stanton, Luis Severino, and Miguel Andujar, entering this contest. Tulowitzki, officially on the list, brings the total to 11 as the team heads to Baltimore for their first road trip on Thursday.
For now, Tulowitzki has no schedule, but it would be difficult to see him miss a considerable time given his double-heeled operation that forced him to miss the entire 2018 season and the half of the 2017 season.
It was Tulo's fifth regular-season game with the Yankees. He came in today with a score of 2 against 10 in the plate with a circuit and a double.
Replacement of Tulowitzki will be Thairo Estrada, which was to start the season Thursday in the Triple-A Scranton / Wilkes-Barre. Instead, he was the only remaining field player on the Yankees' 40-man list, which allowed his call to be self-evident.
Yankees fans may remember the injury of Estrada in 2018, because it was not to be forgotten. In an attempted robbery, Estrada was shot at his home in Venezuela before the start of the season. Although it detracted early in the season, he was not able to stay healthy throughout the match, resulting in only 18 games overall.
When he receives coach Aaron Boone, Estrada will make his big league debut with pinstripes.
