The Yankees defeated the Orioles 6-4 at Oriole Park Camden Yards on Saturday night. >> Box score
Five things to know about the match on Saturday ..
1) Try to make up for a poor first start to the season, J.A. Happ launched only 4.1 two-sleeve ball heats. Happ allowed five shots, walked two and took out five. He became stronger as the game progressed, having only problems with Trey Mancini (Homer and a double) along the way. Unfortunately, that was enough for the manager of the Yankees Aaron Boone to eliminate the southpaw when Mancini came to the plate for the third time in the fifth inning. We are counting on Happ to record the heats and he has not managed to do it so far this season.
2) After accumulating a disturbing number of strikeouts (14) in the first seven games, Aaron Judge crushed by two long circuits – the first bombs of his season. The judge made three races, which doubled his performance of the season.
3) The Yankees had a great chance to blow up this game early in the sixth inning by charging the goals without any withdrawal. But Gary Sanchez was chosen third base, Clint Frazier striped and Gio Urshela grounded to sniff the sleeve. The Bombers failed with the runners in goal for most of the season, but it was the worst failure so far.
4) New York will have to find the best way to deploy its paddock and avoid the seemingly overwhelming desire to steal the late outs, which goes back to last season. The Yankees have tried to get Jonathan Holder to pass through a part of the third frame and it did not work because he was accused of two points, which temporarily gave the Orioles an advantage.
5) In the eighth inning, with two outs and runners at the corners, Frazier unloaded on a slider suspended in the left chairs to put the Yanks, 6-4. Frazier, who has battled the aftermath of a concussion for much of 2018, is going to get extra play time with Aaron Hicks on the list of the wounded. The home run was Frazier's first major league tour since July 28, 2017.
