‘There are a lot of things that have been lost’ with the royal family

CBS has released a new clip of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s much-anticipated meeting with Oprah Winfrey, in which Markle says of Buckingham Palace: “I don’t know how they could expect that after all this time we were quiet.”

“What do you think of the palace hearing you speak your truth today?” Winfrey asks as the violins start to swell dramatically in the background.

“I don’t know how they could expect that after all this time we would just stay silent, if there is an active role the cabinet is playing in perpetuating the lies about us,” Markle says, using a nickname for the royals allegedly originally from King George VI.

“And if that carries a risk of losing things,” she adds, “there is already a lot that has been lost.”

Much of the conversation around this week’s interview was monopolized by accusations against Markle, 39, that she intimidated at least two palace aides during her short time at the said company. The Times of London cited sources as saying the Duchess of Sussex had actually reduced staff to tears during her tenure at Kensington Palace.

Markle called the allegations a “calculated smear campaign” scheduled for the revealing Winfrey, as Buckingham Palace announced an investigation into the allegations on Wednesday.

Markle and Harry left the royal family and moved to the United States in a jaw-dropping January 2020 decision called ‘Megxit’.
