Alabama answered the bell last week in their dominating performance over the Miami Hurricanes and are now looking to build on that momentum in their home opener against the Mercer Bears.
Part of my role here at Roll Tide Wire is to highlight some of the areas of concern ahead of the game against the next Crimson Tide opponent. Sometimes these concerns are obvious and sometimes they are not.
There’s not much that should worry you if you’re in Alabama before this game. But if we’ve learned anything from Coach Saban, it’s that the belief to just ‘get out of it’ can prove to be detrimental.
What do you call this type of state of mind?
Complacency
I know it, you know it, and Nick Saban knows it. There’s a reason why every time Coach Saban addressed the media this week, he stressed the importance of respecting the opponent.
Coach Saban has made it clear that the team has not been training in a manner acceptable to the coaching staff. The only explanation for this is complacency.
Look, Mercer doesn’t have the horses to compete with Alabama for four quarters, but if the game is tighter than pundits think it will be for one reason and one reason only, complacency on the tide side. .
