Modders had a lot of fun playing with Mr. X at Resident Evil 2whether it's giving support to the DMX or turning it into Thomas the Tank Engine. But what if you prefer to slow down and explore the police station in relative peace? Well, now there is an answer.
On Nexus Mods, maverickheart has come up with a simple mod for Resident Evil 2 that gets rid of Mr. X. He is gone! You will not have to plan unusual routes through the train station. You will not have to worry about the fact that Mr. X requires you to sink into a room that you have never bothered to clean properly. And, better yet, you will not panic with his constant steps.
According to the creator of the mod, all scripted events needed with Mr. X still work as needed. "X made sure to leave a ghost friend in his place to lift the helicopter for you at the appropriate time."
As painful as Mr. X may be, it must be emphasized that his presence is a key ingredient that binds all the experience. This is a generally predictable threat in a game that never wants you to feel too comfortable with your environment. Without him, we would play too safely and would not need to adapt quickly. Some of my best moments came from him, bringing me to places I was not ready to face.
You can play Resident Evil 2 as you would like, however. The options are good!
