The new Epic store is running at full speed
Like it or not, the Epic Store continues to gain momentum and adds two new exclusives today; Ghost Recon Breakpoint and Anno 1800. You may find it amusing that Epic is in the position where they are forced to accept Steam pre-orders since their first flogging to users of this service. Maybe that's why Breakpoint will never be released on Steam, at least from what Ars Technica would have learned. This could happen someday if Tim Sweeney claimed that Epic would give up this exclusivity if Steam gave "a permanent 88% revenue share to all developers and publishers without any major condition".
One can not help but wonder if it makes business sense for either platform, but giving up the exclusives would certainly be good for the consumer. You may remember GameSpy, which depended on many multiplayer modes; Again, you may not see how this stopped and prevented you from playing with your friends on games you bought legally. There were some exceptions, like Civilizations 4, that Steam took over, but one wonders what the ecosystem of the gaming platform will look like in five or ten years if these exclusives are maintained.
