Needless to say, the Ford F-150 Raptor has all of the latest off-road technology from the Blue Oval to compete with the US truck market. These tech toys are part of the whole appeal – aside from its prickly appearance, of course.
However, I know a number of people who are still in love with how the Ford F-150 looked back then, especially the sixth and seventh generation models. If you’re one of those people, say nothing more – here’s a 2014 Ford Raptor with the face of a 1979 F-150, blending the old with the new.
As shown in the embedded video on the top, this rig was made by Sweet Brothers Restomods. We know, it sounds confusing. But to put it simply, the chassis, Fox Racing shocks and 6.2-liter V8 engine of the first-gen Ford Raptor are all kept under the skin, while the bodywork came from a sixth-generation F-150. Probably the coolest truck-made restaurant we’ve seen so far.
And yes, if you think the old F-150 shouldn’t fit the modern Raptor chassis, that would be okay. That’s why the folks at Sweet Brothers Restomods have used their aftermarket magic and stretching the geriatric body to fit the set – and they’re doing quite well. Some modern essentials are present, such as the heated and cooled seats, as well as the front and rear cameras.
Even better, the retro-looking Raptor comes equipped with a Roush Stage II supercharger kit, with a total output of 590 horsepower (440 kilowatts) and 590 pound-feet (800 Newton-meters) of torque. That’s more than enough to pull the single cab bodywork, sure, but you can never go too far, right?
