2020 has been a brutal year for the airline industry, but leisure travel has made a comeback and airlines are finally starting to recover.

But which airline ranked the best from April 2020 to March 2021?

According to The Points Guy’s Best Airlines analysis, Delta Air Lines, once again, retains the top spot for Best Overall Traveler Experience for the third year in a row.

Southwest Airlines came second after Delta. Allegiant Air, on the other hand, ranked as the worst airline.

The study looked at the top 10 airlines based on a variety of factors including reliability, experience, loyalty, cost and reach.

Delta did not necessarily stand out in just one category, but it is its consistency across all objectives that has kept it in the top spot compared to other airlines.

The carrier ranked number one in terms of reliability and travel experience, two key indicators for judging the quality of airlines. Its loyalty program also held up well, placing second overall.

Customer service was also included, where Delta was part of a four-lane tie for second place, with less than 10 complaints per 100,000 passengers.

Additionally, Delta tied for first place for lounge access with Alaska Airlines and tied with Allegiant and Hawaiian for zero unintentional bumps during the 12th month period.

Southwest Airlines, which ranked second overall, ranked number one in customer service, with an average of just over three complaints per 100,000 passengers. It also took the top spot for baggage and change fees, which were around 0.31 cents per passenger, and availability of rewards, where it offered the most availability at the best value for money compared to programs of other airlines. The area he was missing was the living rooms.
