This is a thoughtful rendering of a Honda S2000 revival

Ah, the Honda S2000. The tail of the 1960s Honda roadster lineup and the Mazda MX-5’s biggest rival. Fans of the open-top two-seater have been clamoring for a successor since production ended in 2009, but Honda has been pretty quiet on requests – until a recent rumor of revival surfaced last year.

That being said, Behance Artist Somak Biswas imagines the return of the S2000 through a series of fictional renderings for modern times.

First, Biswas established the rebirth of the S2000 as a rival to the BMW Z4 and the Porsche 718 Boxster. A turbocharged 2.0-liter four-pot grinder sits in the hood, likely from the Honda Civic Type R, according to recent rumors.

From a design standpoint, the Biswas S2000 is reminiscent of the previous model with its long hood, clean lines and road-hugging stance. However, it follows the new design language seen on the 2022 Honda Civic prototype that was revealed in November, mostly seen on the headlights, lower grille and front intakes. Biswas even imagined a more aggressive S2000 Type R, dressed in a rear spoiler and skirts with red accents.

Inside, the imaginary S2000 comes with three main elements. A Mood bar, which flanks the dashboard and combines a sound bar, ambient lighting and air vents, aims to excite sensation, hearing and sight. The infotainment system, on the other hand, has been designed to have an adjustable position for better visibility and better range. Finally, Biswas also imagines the central console to have a stepped shape – a design inspired by Japanese pagodas.

Biswas’ take on the S2000 rebirth looks cool, to say the least, with the elements added to the thoughtful renders, lending validity to the artist’s imagination.
